At Dr4d4, we offer Ambulance Driver Medical Assessments to ensure you meet the necessary health standards for serving on the front lines. Our assessments are designed to confirm your fitness to operate an ambulance, focusing on your overall health and well-being.
This assessment ensures that drivers operating larger ambulance vehicles, typically requiring a C1 license, meet the required health and fitness standards as stipulated by the DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency). This includes evaluating their vision, blood pressure, and overall health to confirm their fitness to drive emergency vehicles safely.
We provide convenient appointment options, including evenings and weekends, at multiple locations to fit your schedule. Book your Ambulance Medical assessment now or call us on 0161 706 2555 for more details.
License Requirements:
Paramedic Course Enrollment:
Most universities require a provisional C1 license to enroll in a paramedic course. As a student paramedic, you must meet the DVLA’s medical standards for commercial vehicle drivers, and a D4 medical form from an approved provider is mandatory.
Ongoing Fitness:
Once you hold a C1 license, you are required to have a medical examination every 5 years until the age of 65, after which an annual medical is necessary to ensure continued fitness to drive.
During your appointment, one of our certified doctors will complete a comprehensive evaluation to ensure you meet DVLA medical standards:
Medical History Review:
The doctor will discuss your medical history, including any past surgeries, ongoing medical conditions, and current medications that might affect your ability to drive safely.
Vision Test:
This includes checking your visual acuity, peripheral vision, and depth perception to ensure your eyesight meets the necessary standards for safe driving.
Blood Pressure Check:
High or uncontrolled blood pressure can affect your ability to drive, so a blood pressure check is mandatory as part of your medical assessment.
D4 Form Completion:
Please bring a printed copy of your D4 form to the appointment. Our doctor will complete the form after assessing your fitness to drive. The completed D4 form can then be submitted to the DVLA for approval.
Important Note:
Ambulance drivers and paramedics who passed their driving test on or after 1 January 1997 must pass a medical examination to obtain a C1 license. If you passed your driving test before this date, the C1 category is automatically included in your license.
